Doggone

7 October 2009 One Comment

Most tourists settle for 200 cigarettes or a bottle of perfume. But one visitor to Lanzarote ended up taking a furry souvenir home after enjoying a holiday on the island last year. In the form of a Podenco – a breed of Canarian hunting dog.

Lelsey Beauchamp from Melton fell in love with the breed after visiting Lanzarote´s animal rescue sanctuary, SARA, last November. Since then she has adopted no less than eight dogs from Lanzarote, paying their medical bills and transportation. And is now campaigning in the UK to encourage both businesses and individuals to help rescue even more.

This is certainly a heart warming story but at the same time a little strange.

I have never known or heard of anybody before go on holiday and visit an animal rescue centre.

Howver, if she is happy and had a good holiday then thats the most important thing I guess. In additon she has also given a Podenco a good home.
