16 December 2009 No Comment

Thieves staged a robbery at the Timanfaya National Park – Lanzarote´s leading tourist attraction – on Sunday night.  Tying up a security guard and making off with the takings.  The thieves entered the Timanfaya National Park at 1.00 in the morning with the aim of robbing the weekend’s takings .

Making their way to the Islote de Hilario where El Diablo Restaurant and the gift shop are based, where they tied up the security guard and made off with an undetermined amount of money. A source at the Centres of Art and Culture said that possibly the thieves thought they would be able to take the entire weekend’s takings, which are normally collected by a security van.
