Ryanair Stunt Goes Down The Pan

7 April 2010 No Comment

A probable April Fools stunt initiated by Ryanair last week looks set to backfire on the budget airline.  As their claims to be introducing a €1 toilet tax on flights to Lanzarote and all other routes has attracted a torrent of criticism from both the media and consumers alike.

According to the Ryanair news release which was posted on April 1st on their website (but now removed) the budget airline is now planning to introduce a coin-operated door release system on each flight. Charging passengers £1 or €1 to use the toilet.  And would also be removing the number of toilets on each flight from three to one in order to free up space for a further six seats.

It´s currently unclear whether the airline has any serious intention of pressing ahead with this move.  But media covering the story in both the UK and Eire have been flooded with negative reactions and complaints about the budget operators latest PR wheeze.
