6000 Cruise Passengers Head For Arrecife

11 May 2010 No Comment

The arrival of two cruise ships with more than 6,000 passengers on board has led to the municipal market of Arrecife to open one day earlier this week. As a result, instead of the usual schedule of Wednesday and Thursday, the market, which is held in Parque Ramirez Cerda, will actually take place on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

The ‘Independence’ and the ‘Sea Adventure’ are the two cruise liners docking in Puerto Marmoles this week, with a combined passenger list of more than 6,000 travellers. And as many of these visitors will venture in to Arrecife, the councilor for Commerce at the Ayuntamiento of Arrecife, Maria de Amor Castañeyra, saw this as an opportunity not to be missed.

The 138 stalls that make up the market will follow their usual timetable for setting up, from 07.00 in the morning to be ready at 09.00 in time for the first visitors arrival in the capital. The market runs until 14.00.
