World’s Biggest Beach Towel Created in Gran Canaria

9 June 2010 No Comment

A massive towel big enough to reserve every sun lounger on the beach has been created on Gran Canaria, creating a new Guinness World Record in the process.  The world’s biggest beach towel measures 2,240 metres square and was created in Las Palmas by a team of 25 people in 15 days.

On the day that it was unveiled more than 1000 beachgoers sunbathed on the towel.  The previous world record was set in Cyprus two years ago.
