Eat Your Way Around Arrecife

6 July 2010 No Comment

Over the next two months, visitors to Lanzarote can get a proper taste of the Canaries by visiting the capital of Arrecife. From July 1st to 31st August a new Gastronomic Route through Arrecife will include dozens of bars and restaurants, all of whom aim to tempt tourists in to try assorted local dishes.

Amongst those establishments participating are Bar Andalucia, Restaurante Lilium in Calle Jose Antonio, La Puntilla in El Charco and Café Guernika amongst others. Apart from the better known Canarian staples such as Bienmesabe and Papas Arragudas (wrinkled potatoes), there will also be a number of more adventurous offerings, making good use of local produce.

For instance, Bar Andalucia will be offering a new dish using Cherne (Wreckfish), called ‘Brandada de Cherne’, whilst Lilium will serve up banana croquets with a minty mayonnaise. A wide variety of locally caught seafood will also be incorporated into new recipes, along with palm hearts, the traditional mojo sauces and numerous sweets, all priced at extremely reasonable rates with a tapas serving starting at just €2.
