The number of British tourists taking holidays in Lanzarote rose by 32% last month.  According to data recently released by ISTAC, the Canarian Institute of Statistics.  Whilst the number of visitors from the islands second and third largest markets of Germany and Eire also soared.  Up by 62% and 46% respectively.  As overall foreign tourism climbed last month by 57% versus April 2010.  Aided largely by the recent crisis in the Middle East and the fact that Easter fell in April this year.

Other major gains were made in the Norwegian market, Lanzarote´s fourth largest source of guests last month, with visitors rising by 185%.  And Holland, up by 33%.  With only the French, Polish and Spanish markets recording a fall. In total Lanzarote welcomed 179,275 visitors last month.  With the British market accounting for 82,300 of these arrivals.
