This was sent to me today from present cabin crew at ryanair.
THE REAL REASON.
Hi John,

Im sure you have read the recent news on the Ryanair website about the 100 passengers who have been offloaded after becoming disrupitve after refusing to follow crew instructions because they were charged for oversized baggage.
Not many people know that the staff at these gates are seperate to Ryanair totaly, and most people dont realise that these companies Servisair,Swissport etc charge for bags, not because the follow Ryanair rules and regulations, they make commission on bags that they charge for, generally in the region of 10-15% of the overall charge. So had 50% of those passengers in Lanzorate who were offloaded for refusing to pay for bags, the staff at the gate earned about €125 on the "sale".
Aswell as this the gate staff charge both £30 and €30 for people with oversized baggage,no exchange rate whatsoever!
The bags that Ryanair sell on there own website WILL NOT fit the baggage measures in terminals. They have been selling these bags to people saying that they are the "correct" size, but should you so much as put a pairs of shorts in the bag,its stretches and is to big!
The gate staff generally have a target of 5-7 bags per flight to charge for,and will do everything in there power to get people. This quota depends on the flight going out,for example its a higher target for Canary Islands then it is for Stanstead--->Dublin.It is scandalous what they do and the tactics they employ.
They aslo sell "Priority Boarding" but they have no cap on the amount of people who can actually buy priority boarding.I have physically seen Q's for priority which were bigger then the regular boarding Q's.

Sir,

Firstly let me state that I am a non-smoker. But I find this total ban of cigarette smoking very unresonable. We can't constantly have no toleranace. Whats wrong with a little give and take.

Many things annoy us, cyclist for one annoy me and many other drivers, but I don't suppose they will be taken off the roads. In fact in Puerto del Carmen their road is as wide as the road for cars and buses and they don't pay anything toward teh upkeep of said roads.

The newest thing now is drinking - what will happen after they have stopped everyone drinking - what will be next?

It doesn't help not being able to take wine back home so easily on a plane.

(a) Putting it in the checked-in luggage can be too risky for some people

(b) You can't take it in your hand luggage

(c) Even if you find the wine you wanted to take in the departures lounge, not all shops appear to be able to seal it for transit so you run the risk of having it confiscated at some point in your journey.

The award is well deserved, congratulations to them!
The 100 exchanges were not a gimmick but a very clever marketing trick that certainly got the message across - see how much controversy and subsequent exposure for the Canaries it's generated!

Tourism is obviously a very important part of Lanzarote and creates an enormous amount of wealth that has helped to shape Lanzarote as it is now.

However, having visited Lanzarote many times, I know there is so much more to the island than just incoming tourism. I sincerely hope that his exhibition will let people see Lanzarote from an important and alternative perspective.

This is certainly a heart warming story but at the same time a little strange.

I have never known or heard of anybody before go on holiday and visit an animal rescue centre.

Howver, if she is happy and had a good holiday then thats the most important thing I guess. In additon she has also given a Podenco a good home.
