Lanzarote welcomed an influx of German visitors last month, as arrivals from the island´s second largest market soared by 65.5%.  Thanks largely to the impact of the crisis in the Middle East, which diverted many German holidaymakers from resorts such as Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt to Lanzarote and other winter sun hot spots in the Canary Islands.
The upsurge in German visitors last month follows on from positive growth recorded in January, when German arrivals rose by 27.7%.  And overall foreign tourist numbers climbed by 23.6% last month on Lanzarote.  …

Approval has been granted by the Congress of Deputies for the Canary Islands to have their own unique internet addresses, ending with the letters IC in place of the ES currently assigned to websites in Spain.

A recent survey conducted by Trip Advisor has revealed that British tourists drink more than holidaymakers from other countries when enjoying a break abroad.  With 65% of the UK travelers surveyed admitting to imbibing more heavily when on holiday.  In comparison with an overall average of just 41% for all other nationalities.

Thomson Holidays and First Choice have just announced the launch of a new flight service to Lanzarote from Edinburgh airport.  Which will be available to holidaymakers this summer.  In addition to two other new routes to Gran Canaria and Rhodes.
