Arrecife swings into action this weekend with the Carnaval theme dedicated to the memory of Michael Jackson. So expect an abundance of white gloves and Thriller related threads.  The main event takes place in the island capital on Monday 15th as the Carnaval Parade sways through the streets from the Cuidad Deportiva to the Cabildo building n the seafront.

The action then moves on to Puerto del Carmen from the 18th to the 21str.  With the Gran Carnaval Parade taking place on Saturday the 20th.

Teresa beat of hundreds of other entries to come up with this eye catching creation, in a competition organised by the Ayuntamiento of Teguise. Pocketing a cool €600 prize money in the process.  Along with the pleasure of seeing her work posted across the island.  Carnaval in Costa Teguise takes place this year on February 27th and 28th.

Every year the organisers of Carnaval select a new theme for the event – often plumping for something newsworthy that has caught the imagination of the general public. And with Jackson’s death proving to be such a major media story a celebration of his life has been deemed as a fitting tribute to one of the worlds most famous pop performers. For those keen to get in on the Jacko themed action the main parade will be taking place in Arrecife on February 15th.
